🇷🇺 The second Project 21180M diesel-electric icebreaker being built for the Russian Navy, Svyatogor ("Святогор"), yard number 801, was recently launched at the Almaz Shipbuilding Company in St. Petersburg. The vessel is intended to support naval basing and deployments in icy conditions, independently escort ships through ice, and fight fires at facilities or vessels in distress. It is designed to Russian Maritime Register of Shipping classification requirements, with stated icebreaking capabilities of 1 meter moving ahead and 0.64 meters moving astern. The icebreaker displaces just over 4,000 tonnes, measures 82 meters long and 19 meters wide, and is also described as capable of negotiating ice up to 1.5 meters thick. It has a helicopter landing pad at the bow.
