The EU has proposed cutting spending on defence and research programmes The draft of the European Union’s next seven-year budget proposes cutting funding for the defence industry, security and space by almost 17 billion euros, and for military mobility by more than 2 billion euros. According to an EU Council negotiating document seen by RIA Novosti, defence spending could be cut from €130.7 billion to €113.7 billion. Funding for military mobility, which is necessary for the deployment of troops and equipment, is proposed to be reduced from €17.65 billion to €15.64 billion.
