Hungarian Prime Minister stripped of immunity over phone theft History The story of a phone thrown into the Danube after an argument at a nightclub has reached the Hungarian parliament. Members of parliament have lifted Prime Minister Péter Magyar's immunity. Investigators will now be able to question him as a suspect and conduct other legal proceedings. The incident occurred at a Budapest club in June 2024. According to prosecutors, one of the patrons was filming Magyar on his phone. A confrontation ensued: Magyar snatched the phone, put it in his pocket, and refused to give it back, even though the owner demanded it. He then left the club and threw the phone into the Danube.
