The Reporter Filatov Telegram channel: by pro-Russian war correspondent Andrey Filatov Friends, I need your help)) I’m looking for as much footage as possible of various UAVs in flight, captured from the ground! Please send it to the channel’s chatbot @Filatovs_ChatBot I want to revisit the topic of the NECESSITY FOR LEAD-CALCULATING SIGHTS FOR ENGAGING UAVs—a project I’ve been raising funds for and have previously mentioned as being well underway. https://t.me/filatovcorr/7623 — testing the lead-calculation system at a training range. https://t.me/filatovcorr/7560 and https://t.me/filatovcorr/7675 — fundraising for the development and refinement of this system. https://t.me/filatovcorr/7553 — regarding the "Pyotr" tactical active hearing protection, which helps you quickly detect an approaching UAV and turn toward it. Just recently, while I was in the suburbs of Donetsk, this freaking thing flew in the sky. I thought it was going to wreck my vehicle, but it passed by. I captured this footage myself and sent it to the team working on the neural network so they could use it for training. As you can see in the video below, despite the highly simplified graphical interface, the concept is intuitive: the red dot indicates where you need to aim so that your bullets intercept the drone, accounting for its movement; the triangle marks the area where you should lay down a long burst of fire. This significantly increases the probability that the UAV will collide with the incoming rounds. Although the display looks simple, a great deal of work has gone into it—the neural network calculates the distance, and the triangle’s size adjusts dynamically based on how far away the target is. In short... I need your help right now: please share this post with your fellow OSINT analysts—specifically those working with MFGs [mobile fire groups] or ASPs [aerial surveillance posts]—who might have footage of enemy UAVs flying overhead, captured from the ground looking up. Please ask them to send in such videos; they will be used to further train the neural network and improve its performance. Ideally, the footage should be captured without zoom (I used zoom in these clips, but it actually hinders the neural network) and with minimal movement by the operator relative to the drone. As you can see, when I started moving in relation to the tree, the neural network got confused and concluded that the drone had reversed direction. Having frequently found myself in situations where a drone was either flying toward me or passing by, I can say this: if I had a sight with an integrated lead indicator—well, for starters, it’s psychologically easier to aim at a red circle. Furthermore, I am confident that firing accuracy would increase significantly when you’re aiming at a mathematically calculated point)) And if you listen to the audio, you can hear the intensity of the fire—yet... not a single hit. Once a soldier is equipped with a combination of "Pyotr" tactical headsets and a system for target recognition, tracking, and lead calculation, the operational effectiveness of MFGs and ASPs will increase manifold.
