🇷🇺 Orders for Kometa modules in 2026 will significantly exceed 100,000 units, according to Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, GUR. The Kometa interference-resistant navigation module, used in Russian weapons, consists of two main elements: an array containing a specified number of patch antennas and a signal-processing module built around an Altera Cyclone field-programmable gate array (FPGA), manufactured by Altera, part of Intel. The system’s resistance to interference depends on the number and arrangement of its patch antennas, as well as the algorithm the FPGA uses to separate useful signals from interference. The antenna array provides spatial information about the direction of incoming interference, allowing the system to compensate for its effects. Weapons currently use predominantly 16-element systems, shown in the photograph. Meanwhile, work is underway to establish series production of 20-element arrays. The use of 32-element systems, manufactured in China and at Alabuga, has also been confirmed. Weapons fitted with various Kometa configurations, either in production or experimentally, include: ▪️ Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems; ▪️ RM-48U missiles; ▪️ Dan-T/Banderol, Oniks, Product 30 and probably Filin cruise missiles; ▪️ Geran, Gerbera and Garpiya kamikaze drones; ▪️ UMPK glide and guidance kits; ▪️ UMPB-5R munitions. The developer and main manufacturer of Kometa modules in their various configurations is VNIIR-Progress, part of the ABS Electro group. Its facility in Cheboksary has been struck three times by kamikaze drones and cruise missiles: in June 2025, May 2026 and June 2026. #info #EW #electronics #space #UAV #Geran #Missiles #industry
