🇺🇸🤜🇮🇷 An F/A-18F Super Hornet from the US Navy’s Strike Fighter Squadron 41 (VFA-41) bearing a kill marking for destroying an Iranian submarine. The specific type of submarine hit is unknown. A CENTCOM video dated March 10 includes footage apparently showing an AGM-114 Hellfire strike on a Ghadir-class submarine, which would rule out a Super Hornet unless the footage shows a different munition. Other documented incidents involved MQ-9 Reapers, ATACMS missiles and unmanned surface vessels. Following the squadron’s return to the United States from the Middle East, information emerged about the number of munitions its aircraft used against Iranian targets. ▪️173 GBU-38/B JDAMs. ▪️52 GBU-31(V)4/B JDAMs. ▪️48 GBU-54/B LJDAMs. ▪️41 AGM-154 JSOWs. ▪️33 AIM-9X Sidewinders. ▪️30 GBU-31(V)2/B JDAMs. ▪️27 GBU-32/B JDAMs. ▪️10 AGM-84K SLAM-ERs. ▪️6 AIM-120 AMRAAMs. ▪️1 GBU-12/B Paveway II. The total comes to 421 munitions, but these were expended by just one squadron aboard USS Abraham Lincoln. The carrier’s air wing includes four strike fighter squadrons: three equipped with Super Hornets and one with F-35Cs. The list does not mention APKWS II guided rockets, which could theoretically have been used against kamikaze drones. On the eve of Operation Epic Fury, work was reported to have begun on integrating APKWS II onto Super Hornet fighters, but the final outcome remains unknown. #info #F18 #Navy #Iran #Submarine
