The Reporter Filatov Telegram channel: by pro-Russian war correspondent Andrey Filatov A provocative post. If there were a "State Defense Offensive Committee" empowered to grant authority to an upstart with a sound plan, then... Give me six months. I would drive a mechanized column into any town/city located 20–40 kilometers beyond the line of combat contact and the "kill zone." And if this committee—as a penalty for a failed breakthrough—chose to have me executed... I would accept those terms. Successful mechanized assaults are possible, provided the army knows how to think. Period. I once had an informal conversation with the chief of staff of one of our armies, who claimed that we had reached a "technological dead end." My response: there is no such thing as a technological dead end. I could break through any sector of the front—not by throwing "meat" [infantry], but by using technology. I say this based solely on what I have seen myself and what I understand about how these systems work. Period. A question: can an officer—say, up to the rank of battalion commander—argue with a superior who is convinced that a "technological dead end" exists? As for me, I’m a civilian; to me, he’s just a decent guy who doesn't really grasp technology—he loses tanks to "toys" [drones] while ignoring the "toys" [technological solutions] designed to counter those very threats.
