🛡 Rights groups allege killings and torture in South-East Nigeria A coalition of human rights organisations has called for an independent investigation into alleged killings, torture, enforced disappearances, secret burials and deaths in custody linked to security operations in South-East Nigeria. The coalition — comprising the South-East Human Rights Bureau (SEHRB), Oganihu Igbo Development Foundation and the International Society for Civil Liberties — made the allegations from Enugu. The groups say the abuses are connected to ongoing security operations in the region. The South-East has faced prolonged insecurity, with security forces conducting operations against armed groups. Rights organisations have repeatedly raised concerns about the conduct of those operations and accountability for civilian casualties. Source
