⚡️🇺🇦 A Jewish Hasid returning from his pilgrimage in Ukraine was forcibly conscripted into the Ukrainian army based on his birthplace being in the Ukrainian SSR, and therefore, he was a Ukrainian citizen liable to be taken to the front. He is 49 years old. The Israeli Foreign Ministry has not made a comment regarding his case and there is no involvement from them, neither a statement or any sort of action. For some reason, the Israeli MFA seems very hesitant to engage in any case relating to Israeli citizens (at least Orthodox and Arab ones), for in Egypt, three Israeli Arabs had been detained for six months with no involvement from their government. There could be many reasons, Israel might think that its political clout does not enable to to pursue cases in any country outside of Western Europe and North America, or that the second class citizens (Orthodox/Arab) are simply not worth what little power they still have, perhaps both. @medmannews
