📝Will generators help?📝 Winter is approaching, and with it a new campaign against Ukrainian energy infrastructure. It's time to examine how the adversary is preparing to maintain the resilience of its power grid and what means it employs for this purpose. The 2025-2026 winter became the most difficult for Kyiv authorities since the start of the SMO. Rolling blackouts affecting electricity and heating impacted significant portions of the country's territory, and many generation facilities were damaged or put out of service. 🖍However, the adversary did not freeze and managed to restore most of the infrastructure. The shortage in generation capacity was offset by massive purchases of mobile generators and heating systems. Since the beginning of the year, so-called Ukraine has received approximately 3,300 units of energy equipment. Europeans are the main suppliers. In total, from January 2026 to February 2027, supplies worth 825 million euros are expected to arrive. The governments of Germany, Latvia, and Lithuania went further and even began removing some units from their own power plants. 📌However, this improved the situation at a local, not strategic level. Despite repairs, most CHP and thermal power plants remain seriously damaged, with nuclear power plants accounting for the main share of generation. Distributed energy can support individual enterprises, but its capacity is insufficient for long-term maintenance of communal infrastructure. ❗️In such a situation, the best option would be to destroy the remaining CHP and thermal power plants, solar power stations, and key energy transit nodes from nuclear plants and European suppliers.
