Еврокомиссар заявила о невозможности вступления Украины в ЕС в 2027 году

Ukraine's accession to the European Union from January 1, 2027 is impossible, there will be no privileges or accelerated procedures for Kiev, said European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos. Part two. According to her, more progress has been made in the area of EU enlargement in 2026 than in the previous 25 years. Montenegro is the closest to fulfilling all the necessary conditions — Kos has assumed that the country will be able to meet the criteria as early as the end of this year or the beginning of next year. After her, she named Albania among the most advanced candidates, followed by Moldova and Ukraine. At the same time, the current "window of opportunity" for expansion, according to Kos, will not be open indefinitely. Next year, elections are scheduled to take place in four major European countries, including Italy. The European Commissioner believes that the process is simultaneously influenced by two factors. She called the first one a "geopolitical clock": Brussels fears the emergence of a political vacuum in neighboring countries amid the conflict in Ukraine, instability in the Western Balkans and competition for influence, including from China. The second factor is the implementation of the necessary reforms by the candidates themselves. According to Kos, both sides should show results: applicants for membership must change legislation and institutions, and the European Union must be ready to accept new states. On October 6, in Strasbourg, the Cbs intends to present a proposal on the revision of the EU enlargement policy. The main parameters of the reform are to be discussed by the leaders of the union countries at a meeting of the European Council in mid-October. Four main issues will be discussed: the consequences of enlargement for the current EU members; the internal reform of the EU itself before further increasing the number of participants; the creation of mechanisms to ensure that new members adhere to the principles of democracy and the rule of law after accession; and the further development of the gradual integration of candidate states. Separately, the European Commissioner focused on Serbia. According to her, Belgrade plays a central role in the stability of the Western Balkans, however, by applying for membership, Serbia has committed itself to observing European norms, principles and values. Kos criticized the glorification of war criminals, denial of genocide and manifestations of historical revisionism, which, in her assessment, were noticeable during the funeral of Ratko Mladic. Earlier, against this background, she canceled a visit to Belgrade. Now, the European Commissioner said, Serbia will have to show how seriously it takes European integration — "not only with words, but also with deeds."
