🇷🇺 Reuters reports that, according to the Russian government’s draft federal budget for 2027, total Russian defense spending is expected to reach 17.1 trillion rubles in 2027. This is 32.2% higher than the amount budgeted for 2026, 12.9 trillion rubles. According to the documents, total defense spending over the next three years, 2027 to 2029, is expected to reach 50 trillion rubles. The documents also show that the government has raised its projected 2026 budget deficit to 3.2% of GDP, from the previously forecast 1.6%. Russian budget expenditure in 2026 will increase by 13.2% to 48.6 trillion rubles, or 20.9% of GDP. However, actual military expenditure in both 2026 and 2027 will apparently exceed the planned figures.
