Так и хочется посмотреть, как бы столик отреагировал на свою современницу, песню «Technologic»: Buy it, use it, break it, fix it Trash it, change it, mail – upgrade it Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it Snap it, work it, quick – erase it Write it, cut it, paste it, save it Load it, check it, quick – rewrite it Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it Drag and drop it, zip – unzip it Lock it, fill it, call it, find it View it, code it, jam – unlock it ——— Sunday Postmodernism, Issue No. 271 In September 2004, British design company Habitat, then under the creative direction of Tom Dixon, released a rather unusual coffee table. Limited to just 1,000 pieces, it counted Dixon himself among its designers. What made the table unusual was what was hidden inside it. LED modules embedded in the tabletop glowed red, forming different patterns depending on which of ten pre-programmed lighting modes was selected. Better still, the illumination could change in response to the rhythm of music playing nearby. The table was a neat piece of experimental design born at the intersection of furniture, new technology, and electronic music. Why electronic music specifically? Because Tom Dixon wasn’t the table’s only designer. His collaborators were none other than Daft Punk. Which naturally makes us wonder how the table would have reacted to one of its exact contemporaries - “Technologic.” Buy it, use it, break it, fix it Trash it, change it, mail – upgrade it Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it Snap it, work it, quick – erase it Write it, cut it, paste it, save it Load it, check it, quick – rewrite it Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it Drag and drop it, zip – unzip it Lock it, fill it, call it, find it View it, code it, jam – unlock it (photos: bukowskis.com, kreutzer-modern.de, meteorgallery.com)

💎 place
